What a beautiful, early 1960s silk maxi dress from Oscar De La Renta! It is shockingly light - I know it looks like it should not be with that intricate pattern making it appear like it is a brocade or something along that line, but the fabric is actually a beautiful silk chiffon. The pattern is fantastic - intricate little designs are set in black frames that cover the entire dress. The upper bodice is cut slightly full and the waist just an inch higher then normal. It has a extravagant tie collar and this bit of extra fabric is mirror at each wrists dramatic and pretty ruffled finish. I love how the sleeves have been left unlined giving it a touch of contrast despite it bing the same fabric. Excellent condition
The dress is fully lined in a black silk except for the sleeve which are unlined. It closes with a back painted metal zipper and each cuff closes with hand set fabric covered snaps above the ruffle at the wrist. The tie at the neck is attached.
